Samsung is a South Korean multinational conglomerate headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul. 

1938 - Foundation: Samsung was founded by Lee Byung-chul in Daegu, Korea, in 1938. Initially, it started as a small trading company, dealing in groceries, dried-fish, locally-grown groceries, and noodles. 
In the 1960s, Samsung entered the electronics industry. The company began producing black-and-white televisions and other home appliances. Samsung continued its global expansion in the 1990s, establishing itself as a major player in consumer electronics. The company entered the mobile phone market and quickly became a significant competitor. 2000s - Focus on Innovation: Samsung placed a strong emphasis on innovation in the 2000s. The company became a leader in the production of flat-panel displays, memory chips, and mobile phones. The Galaxy series of smartphones, introduced in 2010, played a crucial role in establishing Samsung as a dominant force in the smartphone market. As of 2017, Samsung has the 6th highest global brand value.
