Nothing vs Coros: Overview
Comparing Nothing and Coros helps you determine which brand is best suited for your needs in Smart Watch. Both brands offer strong choices depending on your budget and key feature requirements.
Key Features & Comparison
Evaluate factors such as build quality, warranty, customer satisfaction, and total value before making your final purchase choice between Nothing and Coros.
Battery Life
When examining endurance, Coros operates in an entirely different engineering echelon compared to Nothing's CMF sub-brand offerings. Coros wearables, such as the Pace 3, Apex 2, and Vertix 2S, are engineered around hyper-efficient memory-in-pixel (MIP) display tech and deeply optimized low-power RTOS architectures. This design ethos results in extraordinary battery life that ranges from two weeks on entry-level models to well over a month on flagship devices like the Vertix 2. Even under intense GPS tracking scenarios with full multi-frequency GNSS enabled, Coros devices routinely deliver between 30 and 118 hours of continuous performance. This makes them dependable tools for ultra-endurance athletes, mountaineers, and multi-day expeditioners who cannot afford frequent recharging cycles.
In contrast, Nothing approaches battery life through the lens of a budget-friendly lifestyle smartwatch. Devices like the CMF Watch Pro typically achieve between 10 to 13 days of battery life under light usage conditions, which is commendable for an everyday wearable powered by a rich, power-hungry AMOLED panel. However, this longevity quickly drops to around 4 to 5 days with features like continuous health monitoring and Always-On Display (AOD) engaged, and the continuous GPS tracking battery life is restricted to roughly 20 to 27 hours. While Nothing provides more than adequate endurance for casual urban users who plug their watch in weekly, it lacks the specialized power-saving modes, advanced battery management telemetry, and rugged off-grid longevity that define Coros.
Build Quality & Durability
Coros designs its smartwatches with extreme environments and punishing physical activity in mind. The brand employs high-grade engineering materials, utilizing fiber-reinforced polymers for ultra-lightweight racing watches like the Pace series, while the Apex and Vertix lines feature aerospace-grade titanium bezels, sapphire crystal lens covers, and silicone or nylon performance straps. Water resistance is a major engineering highlight, with entry-level devices boasting 5 ATM ratings and flagship models reaching 10 ATM with certified dive-grade water resistance. The tactile digital dial and physical pushers on Coros watches are purposefully engineered to be operable in sub-zero temperatures, torrential rain, or while wearing thick sports gloves, reflecting an unapologetic focus on field durability.
Nothing's design philosophy centers instead on modern industrial minimalism and accessible urban aesthetics. The CMF Watch Pro models feature sleek, sandblasted aluminum alloy cases with clean lines, flat edges, and high-contrast AMOLED screens protected by curved glass. While visually striking and surprisingly premium given their accessible price point, these watches are built primarily for everyday cosmopolitan wear rather than the backcountry. Durability specifications reflect this lifestyle positioning, offering an IP68 dust and water resistance rating which reliably handles sweat, handwashing, and light rain, but is unsuitable for prolonged swimming, open-water sports, or high-velocity water impacts. For users needing rugged protection against scrapes, drops, and deep water, Coros is distinctly superior, while Nothing delivers a design-forward, architectural wrist presence.
Health & Fitness Tracking
In health and fitness tracking, Coros stands as an elite endurance platform developed to rival performance titans like Garmin. Equipped with high-precision optical heart rate sensors, pulse oximeters, and comprehensive dual-frequency GNSS arrays, Coros watches capture exceptionally granular biomechanical and physiological data. Through the Coros Training Hub and EvoLab algorithm suite, users receive elite-level athletic metrics including training load analysis, base fitness scoring, fatigue calculation, VO2 Max estimates, aerobic/anaerobic threshold management, and marathon level projections. The platform is deeply integrated with third-party ecosystems like Strava and TrainingPeaks, offering structured interval workouts and extensive track-mode algorithmic corrections that professional runners and triathletes rely on.
Nothing provides a straightforward, consumer-grade biometric suite tailored for casual wellness rather than competitive sports performance. The CMF ecosystem includes an optical sensor for standard continuous heart rate monitoring, peripheral blood oxygen (SpO2) saturation, stress tracking, and basic sleep stage detection, alongside dozens of generalized sports tracking profiles. However, the data captured by Nothing devices is fundamentally descriptive rather than prescriptive; it tells you how many calories you burned or your average heart rate, but lacks predictive recovery metrics, training readiness insights, or nuanced interval programming. For a user seeking general fitness accountability, Nothing does the job nicely, but for serious athletes who structure their regimens around physiological telemetry, Coros operates in an entirely superior class.
Smart Features & Connectivity
Nothing clearly prioritizes the smart, connected experience that consumers expect from a contemporary lifestyle accessory. Leveraging its background in consumer electronics and software design, Nothing integrates features like Bluetooth calling via built-in microphones and speakers with AI noise reduction, direct integration with the Nothing OS ecosystem, music playback controls, remote camera shutter functionality, and voice assistant access. The user interface on Nothing's watches is clean, fluid, and visually cohesive, benefiting greatly from high-refresh-rate AMOLED screens that display notifications, weather widgets, and custom minimalist watch faces with crisp, high-resolution fidelity. For daily communication and smartphone-tethered utility, Nothing provides a modern and engaging user experience.
Coros intentionally treats smart features as secondary to athletic performance and battery preservation. Coros watches are stripped of voice assistants, interactive speakerphones, and on-wrist voice calls, focusing connectivity purely on practical utility. Notifications from connected smartphones are read-only and relatively Spartan, and the watch interface prioritizes data readability over graphical flair. Where Coros excels in connectivity is within the sports technology ecosystem: it offers robust ANT+ and Bluetooth sensor pairing capabilities for external heart rate chest straps, cycling power meters, foot pods, and indoor trainers, alongside standalone offline mapping and breadcrumb navigation. Ultimately, Nothing serves the user who wants a modern wrist-based communication companion, whereas Coros appeals to the purist who views a watch strictly as an athletic instrument and navigation hub.
